Troubleshooting
ZingerWingersWinger will not launch. In the event your winger fails to launch you must conduct some trouble shooting to determine the cause. Diagnosing the cause must begin by separating the symptoms into 2 camps. Winger makes a sound. You can hear a sound or sounds coming from the release mechanism. For this purpose, we are including only the winger and not the duck or buzzer sound coming for the remote receiver Sound coming from release. If you hear a buzzing or whirling sound coming from the release, it’s a faulty servo. The fault is either the motor or the gears. If the winger predates 2008 the servo would have used nylon gears which are prone to stripping under pressure. Replace with our new metal gears servo for a longer lasting life. Please note: if your winger contains a blue solenoid actuator (Predates 2008) please call the office for assistance Click coming from trigger. If the trigger clicks or attempts to pull open look for any debris or dirt that may be impeding a smooth operation. Clean with high pressure air and lubricate the mechanical parts Weak buzz sound.Another common reason for the trigger to struggle to pull back is that the batteries in your electronics need charging or replacing. Batteries older than 2 years old should be replaced and are a common reason for failure to launch. Release arm opens. If your release arm flips up to launch but the basket hangs up check for rough spots and burrs on the release arm where the pouch ring slides off. Your primers may or may not fire when this happens. Use a file or emery cloth to buff. All moving parts need to move freely without any resistance from burrs, foreign matter, etc. Use WD-40 and compressed air to clean out the release. Winger does not make a soundNo audible sound can be detected coming from the release mechanism Electronics. While unlikely; your release electronics or batteries may be completely dead or defective. You can test on another winger, call the manufacturer or take to an electrical service outlet for testing. Wire Harness.Due to its wear and tear a more likely cause will be a faulty wire harness which includes the plug (the part that goes into the receiver), the wire that runs through the winger or the quick connectors that link the wire harness to the servo. Replace this part if in doubt. Servo. The next likely cause will be a faulty or defective servo. If unable to isolate the cause it is a good idea to replace both the servo and the wire harness to eliminate these factors. Replace with our new metal gears servo for a longer lasting life. The bird does not go very far. Please go through these questions: The rubbers are not hooked up properly. You may have forgotten to hook one or more rubbers. Pull the rubbers/rings down to their proper anchors. The bird is contacting the frame and flopping out.Make sure the bird is loaded properly (see loading). Vertically place the bird (with head & wingstucked under the body) into the pouch. The tail & legs should extend out the top edge of the pouch so no contact with frame is made. The rubbers need replacing? The rubber tubing may be worn and stretched to the point where they need replacement. Contact customer service to place an order. You are trainning in extremely cold conditions.Freezing tempertures and wind chills will affect the stretch of the rubber tubing. Once the rubber freezes, you will need to move the Winger inside for the rubber tubing to return to its normal structure. The Winger falls over when launched. Please go through these questions: The Winger is on uneven ground.Make sure the Winger is level & stable when setting up. The bird is contacting the frame when launched.Standing behind the Winger center the bird or bumper vertically and flat into the pouch. If using a large duck position any overhang on the topend of the pouch so no interference with the frame occurs. The Winger is set at an extreme angle.Lower the arc of the Winger for a more stable footing. The primer shot doesn't fire. Please go through these questions: The primers are faulty.Use fresh primers that work. The rubbers are worn out.Not enough force is being generated to fire the primer. Replace as needed. You forgot to hook up the rubbers.Hook the pouches release bolt to the release arm. The release bolt should be positioned as far over as it can go. You forgot to load the primer or you inserted the primer into the wrong hole.Make sure you are using the right primer and hole. |
